My husband is out of town and I\u2019ve just returned from dropping my daughter off at 7:15am jazz band practice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m exhausted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And I\u2019ve been writing in my memoir about the unmanageability of brain cancer treatment plus mothering littles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cumulatively it feels like too much.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I sit at my desk with my coffee for a few moments longer before its time to walk my other daughter to school. Onto the page I muse:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0maybe life isn\u2019t meant to be manageable. It\u2019s meant to be a scattering of weeds gathered into a bouquet of wildflowers &#8211; teachers for willing students trying to find<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Truth.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Love.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wholeness.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Goodness. (1)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And place those on the hearth of their home. Making do.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Making Do<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Making do as Bishop Michael Curry would say. Taking a little and making a lot. \u201cTaking an old reality and making a new possibility\u201d. (2)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking the unmanageable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And making it wild and free. Fluid and ever-evolving. Ungraspable. Perpetual, unharnessable, motion. Where nostalgia must bow to the present unmanageable moment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can I put aside my goal sheets and metric markers for this? An opportunity for ordinary bliss? (3)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">God I hope so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">God I know so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">God I surrender so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This does not mean I cease to rest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All the more this is my quest:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To let the flow<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carry me<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through spaces of scattered weeds\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With new eyes<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To (finally. maybe?) see.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">xo<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cheryl<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Notes:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This concept of wildflowers makes most sense in the context of my writing about dandelion lessons and perspective.
